If you’re looking for a quick and easy getaway with the girls, no destination is as easy as New York City. The metropolis is a hive of activity, offering something for everyone—great shopping, food, theater, spa, museums, even celebrity spotting. Of course, with so many options, it can be hard to pare down an itinerary for a weekend trip. So we’ve come up with a few ideas to help you plan the perfect New York getaway.

STAY at the Hudson Hotel. Located just off Central Park at Columbus Circle, this chic boutique property is centrally located and features several hot spots for eating and drinking: Hudson Common, a beer-hall style burger joint, Tequila Park, for Mexican street food, après-ski-style Hudson Lodge,, 80s-themed arcade and dance hall Half & Half, the stately Library Bar, and the English-garden oasis Sky Terrace on the 15th floor.

DINE at 100 Acres. This hip farm-to-table restaurant in SoHo has a rustic-chic vibe that’s reminiscent of a (very posh) farmhouse with a charming garden room. The menu is “market-driven,” meaning it changes with the season, but they get rave reviews for their shrimp hush-puppies and other homey dishes as well as its well-curated European wine list.

BRUNCH at Jane. The tables are close together at this buzzy spot known for its hearty bites, including a vanilla bean French toast with crème-brulee batter and lobster eggs benedict. After noon, your meal includes a free cocktail (in NYC you can’t serve alcohol before noon so you get a glass of fresh juice beforehand).

SEE a show on Broadway. A number of hotly anticipated shows are opening this spring, including the comedy Fish in the Dark, written by Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiam); The Audience, with Helen Mirren once again playing Queen Elizabeth II; Kristen Chenoworth and Peter Gallagher pairing up for the revival of On the Twentieth Century; and The Heidi Chronicles, starring Mad Men star Elizabeth Moss.

EXERCISE and sightsee courtesy of Citi Bike, NYC’s bike share program. Visitors can rent bikes from stations around the city in 24-hour or 7-day blocks. Pick one up near Central Park for and enjoy this urban gem.

SHOP posh boutiques in NoLita (North of Little Italy). Head to Elizabeth, Mott and Mulberry streets for a collection of artsy shops, designer fashions and one-of-a-kind jewelry and home goods. Check out hot spots like Castor & Pollux, Verameat, and Kiosk.
