New Year’s Eve typically translates to bubbly, bubbly, and more bubbly. If  bubbles aren’t your drink of choice, or if you’re just not sure which bottle to buy, here’s our guide to get you sipping in style this NYE. Whether you’re hosting a countdown with cocktails or watching the ball drop with the kids, here’s our take on what to drink this New Year’s Eve.

Bubbly 101

Champagne: Only comes from the Champagne region of France and brings with it a Euro-sized price tag. These pours are elegant, typically dry (not sweet) and are perfect for a celebratory occasion.

Sparkling Wine: This is basically the same as Champagne but comes from California and other regions outside of Champagne, France. These are the same style, made the same way but you can find delicious pours for almost half the price.

From Spain it’s called Cava, and from Italy it’s Prosecco. These two styles typically ring in under $20, but can be a tad sweet. If you don’t like your drinks on the sweet side look for words like Brut, Extra Brut, or Natural on the label.

Insider’s Tip: If Champagne is your style of choice but your on a budget ask for Cremant d’ Alsace or Cremant d’ Bourgogne. These are made in neighboring regions to Champagne and can be found for under $20.

Beyond the Bubbly

If bubbles aren’t your thing but you still want something special, each of these cocktails and mocktails are perfect for ringing in the new year.

Nutella Hot Cocoa Spending NYE with the kids? Put on a batch of this and ladle up a sweet sip no matter what age you are. For the adults, add a shot of Bourbon, Cacao Rum or Frangelico. For the kids serve up fun shaped marshmallows or a batch of fresh whipped cream.

Pomegranate Mojitos and Fauxitos On the heels of the holidays this gorgeous red and green sip is perfect for toasting the last soirée of the season. It’s simple enough to make a batch of alcoholic and non- alcoholic too.

The Classic Negroni Cocktail Not feeling frilly or sweet this classic drink is perfect almost any time of year and a solid stand-by on NYE. If you’re wanting an adult drink in style clink the new year with a classic Negroni.

Vanilla Pear Sparkler This cocktail is light and refreshing and a fun way to dress up a simple bottle of bubbly.
