We Are Never Meeting In Real Life

Sometimes you need to dig your feet in the sand on your beach vacation and nearly burst from hysterical peals of laughter while you read about someone else’s often-hilarious, sometimes preposterous life. Samantha Irby takes self-deprecating to another level. She lets us disappear into her absurd, heartfelt, and occasionally heartbreaking life, and we love her for it.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Very quietly, the Tina Fey-produced Netflix show starring Ellie Kemper and Tituss Burgess has consistently nailed the sweetness/satire bullseye. When you just want to forget all of your real problems, you can drop into Kimmy and Tituss’s fake ones, in a world that’s weirdly compelling and often hilarious.

Wazi Shoes

Maybe I’m biased because I know all the thought and care that goes into every bead on each sandal, but I am so glad the weather is hot so I can wear my gorgeous, handmade Wazi shoes. The fact that a portion of the proceeds supports nursing scholarships in East Africa makes me happy every time I slip them on.

The Philadelphia Rail Park

After a delayed opening, Rail Park is due to open this spring. The 3-mile “park” will traverse parts of the city, turning unused rail lines built by the Philadelphia Reading Railroad into a greenway for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Notorious RGB

The trailer for RBG, a documentary on Ruth Bader Ginsberg, the 84-year-old, Brooklyn-born Supreme Court justice, gave me goosebumps. There’s plenty I don’t know about the relentless defender of civil rights, but I know where I’ll be on May 4 when the movie hits theaters.

The New York Times called Rise the Friday Night Lights for theater kids, but for me, this NBC show is more This Is Us meets Glee. Either way, it’s good, and I am an instant addict.
